From Galena, take US-20 E for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the intersection with IL-78. Turn left onto IL-78 N and continue for about 15 minutes. When you arrive in Elizabeth, turn right onto E Myrtle St, and the site will be on your left. Parking is available on-site.

Once you arrive at the Elizabeth bus stop, it is about a 10-minute walk to the Apple River Fort State Historic Site. Head east on E Main St toward N Elizabeth St, then turn right onto N Elizabeth St. Continue walking until you reach E Myrtle St, then turn left. The site will be on your right.
