    From any location within Ferne Clyffe State Park, head southwest on Ferne Clyffe Road (County Road 28) towards the intersection with IL-34. Continue on Ferne Clyffe Road until you reach the intersection with IL-34. Turn left onto IL-34 South. Follow IL-34 South for approximately 8 miles until you reach the town of Makanda. Once in Makanda, look for signs directing you to the Panther Den Wilderness area. The entrance is located along the road, and there is a parking area where you can leave your car.
