Driving
Fort de Chartres is located on Illinois Route 155, approximately 4 miles west of Prairie du Rocher. From Prairie du Rocher, head west on State Route 155. The site will be on your left. Parking is available in the designated lots. Limited parking is available during special events. There are two parking lots to access the site and one maintenance road / staff parking lot entrance, all entrances are NE of state route 155.

From the village of Prairie du Rocher, walking to Fort de Chartres is possible but not recommended due to the distance (approximately 4 miles) and lack of dedicated pedestrian walkways along State Route 155. If walking, use extreme caution and be aware of vehicular traffic.
