  • Walking

    From the Galena Historic District, head south on Main Street toward Bench Street. Turn right onto Bench Street and continue for about 0.2 miles. The U.S. Grant History Museum will be on your left at 211 S Bench St. Walking is the most convenient option within the Historic District.

  • Driving

    From anywhere in the Galena Territory, head southeast on W. C. Hill Rd until you reach U.S. Route 20. Turn left onto U.S. Route 20 and continue for approximately 3 miles. Follow signs to downtown Galena. Turn left onto S. Bench St. The Museum is at 211 S Bench St. Limited street parking is available. Check parking signs to avoid fines. Free parking is located on Spring Street on the west side of the river, just past the intersection of U.S. 20 and Bench Street/Riverside Drive. There is a large free parking lot on the east side of the river near the Old Train Depot Visitors' Information Center.

  • Public Transport

    Public transportation options are limited in Galena. Jo Daviess County Transit provides on-demand transit service for Galena residents. General public transportation is available within the City of Galena on weekdays and Saturdays. The general fare for this service is $0.50 each way. A minimum 24-hour advance notice of the trip is required.
