Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Red Cedar Trail from anywhere within Giant City State Park, head south on Giant City Rd. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 51. At this point, turn left onto Route 51. After about 0.5 miles, you will see the entrance to Red Cedar Trail on your right. There is no entry fee to access the trail, and ample parking is available nearby.

• Walking

  For those staying close to the visitor center or cabins within Giant City State Park, a scenic walk to Red Cedar Trail is a great option. From the visitor center, head south on the paved path towards Giant City Rd. Follow the path for about 1 mile until you reach Giant City Rd. Turn right and walk approximately 1.5 miles down Giant City Rd until you reach the entrance to Red Cedar Trail on your right. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path may have uneven terrain.

• Public Transportation

  If you are relying on public transportation, you will first need to get to Carbondale, IL. From there, take a taxi or rideshare service to Giant City State Park. Once you arrive at the park, follow the directions provided for walking or driving to reach Red Cedar Trail. Note that public transportation options may be limited, so check local schedules in advance.
