Discover more about Peachbarn Winery & Café

Peachbarn Winery & Café, located in Alto Pass, Illinois, is more than just a winery; it's an experience steeped in history and local charm. Originally a peach orchard in the 1800s, the property's iconic three-story barn was constructed in 1946 to better handle peach harvesting and livestock. In the mid-1990s, Anders and Gerd Hedman, originally from Sweden, fell in love with the area and started serving peach dishes, eventually opening the Peachbarn Café. In the early 2000s, the Hedmans expanded, planting grape vines and establishing Hedman's Vineyards. They renovated the barn to include a wine-tasting space, all while preserving its historic character. In December 2019, Scott and Jennifer Schroeder took over the business, continuing the tradition of quality and hospitality. The winery produces award-winning wines from estate-grown grapes, reflecting the unique terroir of the region. The farm-to-table restaurant emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with a menu designed to complement the wines. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings, gourmet dining, and live entertainment in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The spacious deck offers scenic views, and the property is pet-friendly. The winery also hosts various events throughout the year, from educational wine tastings to live music performances. Peachbarn Winery & Café is a proud member of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, offering a true taste of Southern Illinois.
