If you are driving, start from the main parking area of Matthiessen State Park. Exit the parking lot and head south on IL-178. Continue on IL-178 for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with River Trail. Turn left onto River Trail and follow it for approximately 1 mile. You will see signs indicating the direction to Beehive Overlook Beach. The beach is located on the right side of the road. There is no fee for parking at the beach area.
