Car
If you are driving from Metro East, get on I-55 N from any local road. Follow I-55 N for about 30 miles. Take exit 92A toward Clear Lake Ave/Springfield. Merge onto Clear Lake Ave and continue for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto S Spring St. The Illinois State Museum will be on your right at 502 S Spring St, Springfield, IL 62706. There is parking available near the museum, but it may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation
To reach the Illinois State Museum via public transportation, start by taking the MetroLink light rail from any station in Metro East to the East St. Louis station. From there, you will need to transfer to a bus service such as the Greyhound or Megabus that goes to Springfield. The bus ride will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once in Springfield, you can take a local bus (Route 10 or 12) to get to S Spring St. The museum will be a short walk from the bus stop. Make sure to check the bus schedules for exact timings and potential costs for the bus fare.
