Public Transit
From downtown Naperville, head to the Metra train station located at 105 E 4th Ave. Purchase a ticket to the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago, which is part of the Union Pacific West Line. Board the train and enjoy the scenic ride to Chicago. Once you arrive at Ogilvie, exit the station and walk to the nearby Washington/Wells station to catch the 'Brown Line' train towards Kimball. After a few stops, transfer at the 'Washington/Wells' station to the 'Red Line' train towards Howard. Get off at the 'Chicago' station. From there, exit and walk east for about 10 minutes to reach the Newberry Library at 60 W Walton St.
Bike Rental
If you prefer biking, you can use a bike rental service like 'Naperville Bike Share.' Start by heading to the nearest bike station in downtown Naperville. After renting a bike, follow the DuPage River Trail towards the east until you reach the Riverwalk. Continue biking on the Riverwalk towards the east, then connect to the bike paths leading towards Chicago. Follow the signs for the bike route to the city center, which will eventually lead you to the Newberry Library at 60 W Walton St. It’s a longer ride, so make sure to check the weather and stay hydrated!
Walking
For those who enjoy a long walk, start in downtown Naperville and head east towards the Riverwalk. Follow the Riverwalk trail, which leads you through scenic parks and along the river. Continue heading east until you reach Route 59, and cross at the pedestrian crossings to follow the path towards the Metra train station. From the station, you can complete your journey using the public transit directions provided above.
