To reach Matthiessen State Park by car, start on I-39 if you are coming from the north or south. Take exit 54 for IL-251 toward Oglesby/LaSalle. Continue on IL-251 North for approximately 5 miles until you reach the intersection with IL-178. Turn left onto IL-178 and drive for about 1.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your right at 2500 IL-178, Oglesby, IL 61348. Parking is available on-site, and there may be a small parking fee depending on the day.
Public Transportation
To reach Matthiessen State Park via public transportation, you can take a bus to the nearest town, Oglesby. Check the local transit authority for routes to Oglesby from your location. Once in Oglesby, the park is about 1.5 miles away from the bus stop.
