Train
From Palatine, head to the Palatine Metra Station located at 137 W Wood St, Palatine, IL 60067. Board the Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line heading towards Chicago. The train ride to Chicago Union Station takes approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Chicago Union Station, exit the station and head towards the 'Ogilvie Transportation Center' exit. Follow the signs to the street level.
Walk
Once you are at street level, you will be at 500 W Madison St. Walk east on Madison St for about 0.5 miles until you reach N State St. Turn left onto N State St and continue walking north for about 0.3 miles until you reach W Lake St. Turn right onto W Lake St and walk east for about 0.2 miles until you reach N Michigan Ave. The American Writers Museum will be on your left at 180 North Michigan Ave.
Bus
After exiting the train at Chicago Union Station, you can also take the number 60 or 126 bus from the bus terminal located adjacent to the station. Board the bus heading north on N Canal St and get off at the stop at W Lake St and N Michigan Ave. From there, walk south for a short distance, and you will reach the American Writers Museum at 180 North Michigan Ave.
