Public Transit
From Palatine, walk to the nearest Metra station, Palatine Station, located at 137 W Wood St, Palatine, IL 60067. Purchase a ticket to Chicago Union Station. Board the train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line heading towards Chicago. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Chicago Union Station, exit the station and follow signs to the 'Ogilvie Transportation Center'. From there, you can take the 'CTA Blue Line' subway towards 'Forest Park'. Get off at the 'Washington/Wells' stop. Transfer to the 'CTA Red Line' towards 'Howard'. Get off at 'Harold Washington Library' and transfer to the 'CTA #146' bus towards 'Museum Campus'. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Exit the bus at 'Museum Campus'. The Field Museum will be a short walk from the bus stop.

Alternatively, you can also take a bus directly from Palatine. Walk to the nearest bus stop for the 'PACE' bus route 696 at the corner of Smith St and Lake Cook Rd. Board the bus heading towards the 'Schaumburg' area. After about 20 minutes, transfer at the 'Schaumburg Bus Station' to the 'PACE' bus route 550 towards 'Harvey'. This bus will take you to the 'Cicero and 95th' stop. From here, walk to the 'CTA Pink Line' station and board the train towards '18th'. Transfer at '18th' to the 'CTA Green Line' towards 'Ashland'. Get off at 'Roosevelt' and then transfer to the 'CTA #146' bus towards 'Museum Campus'. The bus will take around 15 minutes, and you'll arrive at the Field Museum.
