Public Transportation
From Palatine, walk to the Palatine Metra Station located at 137 W Wood St. Take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line towards Chicago. After approximately 40 minutes, you'll arrive at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in downtown Chicago. From Ogilvie, transfer to the CTA 'L' train at the Washington/Wells station (you can follow the signs within the station). Take the Pink Line towards 54th/Cermak and get off at the Polk station. From there, walk east on Polk Street for about 0.5 miles until you reach Prairie Avenue. Turn right on Prairie Avenue and walk for another 0.3 miles until you arrive at Glessner House at 1800 S Prairie Ave.
Walking and Public Transportation
Start at the Palatine Village Hall (200 E Wood St). Walk south to the nearest bus stop at Wood St & Slade St. Take the Pace Bus Route 696 towards the Arlington Park Metra Station. After about 20 minutes, get off at the Metra station. Board the Union Pacific Northwest Line towards Chicago. After about 40 minutes, get off at the Ogilvie Transportation Center. From there, transfer to the CTA 'L' train at Washington/Wells station, taking the Pink Line towards 54th/Cermak and getting off at the Polk station. Walk east on Polk Street, heading towards Prairie Avenue, then turn right and walk south until you reach Glessner House.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can bike from Palatine to Chicago. Start at the Palatine Bike Path, heading south towards the Salt Creek Greenway Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the Des Plaines River Trail. Continue on the trail until you connect with the Chicago River Trail. Once you reach the city, follow the trail towards the south side until you reach the Prairie District. Glessner House is located at 1800 S Prairie Ave. Be mindful of city traffic and always wear a helmet!
