Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Palatine Metra Station, take the Union Pacific Northwest Line train headed towards Chicago. The train ride takes about 35 minutes. Get off at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. Once you arrive, exit the station and walk to the Washington/Wells station (about a 5-minute walk). From there, take the Brown Line train towards Kimball. Ride for 5 stops and get off at the Sedgwick station. Exit the station and walk west on North Avenue for about 10 minutes until you reach Stockton Drive. Turn left on Stockton Drive and walk south about 5 minutes to arrive at the Lincoln Park Conservatory.

  • Bus

    Start at the Palatine Metra Station and walk to the nearest bus stop on Northwest Highway. Take the Pace Bus Route 696 towards the City of Chicago. After approximately 50 minutes, get off at the bus stop at the intersection of North Avenue and Clarence Avenue. From there, walk east on North Avenue until you reach Stockton Drive. Turn left on Stockton Drive and walk south for about 5 minutes to the Lincoln Park Conservatory.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike rental shop in Palatine. Head south on Smith Street towards Dundee Road, then take a right onto Dundee Road and continue towards the Metra train tracks. Follow the trail south until you reach the Cook County Forest Preserve trail, which connects to the Des Plaines River Trail. Follow the trail all the way to Chicago, then navigate to North Avenue and head east until you reach Stockton Drive. Turn left onto Stockton Drive and the Lincoln Park Conservatory will be on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are close enough to walk, start at the downtown area of Palatine and head east on Northwest Highway. Continue straight until you reach the Metra Station where you can catch a train to Chicago. Follow the Public Transport instructions above once you reach the Ogilvie Transportation Center.
