From Palatine Metra Station, board the Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago Union Station. The train runs frequently, so check the schedule for the next departure. After approximately 45 minutes, disembark at the 'Ogilvie Transportation Center'. Exit the station and follow the signs to the 'Washington/Wells' L stop. Take the 'Brown Line' train towards Kimball. Get off at the 'Washington/Wells' station. Transfer to the 'Red Line' train heading towards Howard. Ride for 5 stops and get off at 'Chicago' station. Exit the station and walk east on Chicago Ave for about 0.5 miles. The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago will be on your right at 220 E Chicago Ave.

From Palatine, take the Pace Bus Route 696 towards the 'Schaumburg Bus Terminal'. At the terminal, transfer to the Pace Bus Route 600 heading towards 'Woodfield Mall'. Get off at the 'Schaumburg and Golf Rd' stop. Here, you can connect to the 'Metra' train at the nearby Schaumburg Metra Station. Take the train to 'Ogilvie Transportation Center' in Chicago. From there, follow the signs to the 'Washington/Wells' L stop. Take the 'Brown Line' train towards Kimball, then transfer to the 'Red Line' at 'Washington/Wells' station. Get off at 'Chicago' station, exit, and walk east on Chicago Ave to reach the museum at 220 E Chicago Ave.

If you prefer to ride a bike, consider renting one from a local bike shop or using a bike-sharing service. Start your ride from Palatine and head south on N Quentin Rd. Continue onto E Dundee Rd, then take a left onto N Hicks Rd heading south until you reach E Golf Rd. Turn right, and follow E Golf Rd until it merges with IL-53 S. Ride south until you exit toward I-90 E. Continue on I-90 E until you reach the downtown area of Chicago. You can park your bike at designated bike racks near the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago located at 220 E Chicago Ave.
