A significant renovation in the 1970s more than doubled its size, adding a new south wing for private family quarters, a ballroom, and service areas. In 2018, a major privately funded renovation was completed, enhancing the mansion's architectural dignity and adding a visitor center while ensuring ADA compliance.Today, the Illinois Governor's Mansion welcomes visitors to explore its elegant interiors, admire its collection of fine and decorative arts, and learn about the governors who have shaped Illinois history.
