From the intersection of McLean Boulevard and Route 31 in South Elgin, head north on Route 31 for approximately 1 mile. The entrance to the preserve will be on your left. Parking is available in the preserve's main lot, with additional parking closer to Blackhawk Waterfall. Parking is free. Limited parking is available near the waterfall.

    From the Fox River Trolley Museum, head south along the Fox River Trail. Continue for approximately 1 mile until you reach the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve. Follow the signs to the main entrance or the Blackhawk Waterfall. The walk is mostly flat and paved, making it an easy stroll.
