If you are driving from downtown Rockford, start by heading south on N Main St toward E State St. Continue on N Main St and take the ramp onto I-90 E. Follow I-90 E for about 5 miles and take exit 1B to merge onto IL-251 N/Perryville Rd. Continue on Perryville Rd for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Mulford Rd. Turn left onto Mulford Rd, and Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve will be on your right at the intersection of Mulford Rd and Perryville Rd. Parking is available on site.

To reach Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve using public transportation, you can take the Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) bus route. Board the bus at any major stop in downtown Rockford and take Route 10 heading towards the Perryville area. Get off at the stop closest to the Perryville Rd and Mulford Rd intersection. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance of the preserve. Please check the RMTD website for the latest schedule and fare information.
