From Shawnee Hills, head south on IL-145 S. Continue on IL-145 S for approximately 15 miles. You'll pass through the town of Golconda. After 15 miles, turn left onto IL-34 E. Follow IL-34 E for about 5 miles until you reach the entrance of Shawnee National Forest, located near Herod, IL. The entrance will be well-marked.
