If you're traveling by car, start from Carbondale, IL. Head south on IL-51 S for approximately 15 miles. Turn left onto Makanda Rd and follow it for about 3 miles. Continue straight to stay on Makanda Rd as it becomes a gravel road. After about 1 mile, you will arrive at the entrance of Panther Den Wilderness, located near the coordinates 37.5928, -89.0751. There is no entrance fee.

If you're using public transportation, take a Greyhound bus to Carbondale, IL. From the bus station, you can catch a local taxi or rideshare service to Makanda, which is about 10 miles away. Once in Makanda, you will need to walk or take another taxi to the Panther Den Wilderness entrance. Make sure to check local taxi fares as they may vary.
