The house is located at the entrance to the Pasfield family estate, which the family originally purchased in the 1840s.The Pasfield family played a significant role in Springfield's development. George Pasfield Sr. was one of the first merchants in the city and helped bring the Illinois capital to Springfield. His son, Dr. George Pasfield, expanded the family's land holdings and was a friend of Abraham Lincoln. The Pasfield House itself was a symbol of the family's prominence and wealth. After George Pasfield Jr.'s death in 1930, the house was sold and converted into apartments. In the 1990s, Tony Leone, a local businessman, purchased the house and restored it to its original grandeur. Today, owned by Molly Frey since 2022, the Pasfield House operates as a boutique hotel and event venue, hosting weddings, receptions, and other special occasions.
