Namma Bengaluru Aquarium: A Dive into Aquatic Wonders
Explore a diverse underwater world at Namma Bengaluru Aquarium, home to exotic marine and freshwater species in the heart of Bengaluru.
Namma Bengaluru Aquarium, previously known as the Government Aquarium, has been a landmark in Bengaluru since 1983. Situated at the entrance of Cubbon Park, this octagonal-shaped, three-story building is the second-largest aquarium in India. The aquarium is home to a wide variety of cultivable and marine fishes. Following renovations, the aquarium now features a two-floor theme aquarium, a 75,000-liter marine fish tunnel, and a Japanese Koi fish pond with a capacity of 100,000 liters. Visitors can observe unique marine and freshwater species, such as the Blue Fang, Moorish Idol, Discus Fish, Gourami, Lion Fish, and Jellyfish. The ground floor houses the office, while the first and second floors contain 14 large tanks and 62 medium to small aquaria, respectively. The aquarium serves as an educational site, offering insights into aquatic biodiversity and conservation. It is administered by the Karnataka State Government Department of Fisheries. The recent renovations have significantly increased footfall, making it a popular destination for families and tourists.
