    Getting There

    Walking

    From Chowrasta (The Mall), walk along Jawahar Road for approximately 30 minutes to reach HMI. The route is uphill, offering scenic views of Darjeeling. Alternatively, walk from the Chowk Bazaar along Lebong Cart Road for about 3 km (15 minutes drive). Look for signs directing you to HMI along a narrow uphill lane. Note that cars are usually not allowed up to the gate, requiring a short uphill walk. There are no costs associated with walking.

    Taxi

    Hire a reserved or shared taxi from Chowk Bazaar to reach HMI. The journey is approximately 3 km along Lebong Cart Road, taking around 15 minutes. Taxis can drop you near the entrance gate, from where it is a short uphill walk. Typical taxi fares from Chowk Bazaar to HMI range from ₹150-₹300 for a private taxi. Shared taxis are also available at a cheaper rate of ₹20-₹50 per person.
