The Digha Jagannath Temple, also known as Jagannath Dham, is a significant spiritual landmark in the coastal town of Digha, West Bengal. Inaugurated on April 30, 2025, the temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu, and his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra. The temple is designed as an architectural homage to the iconic Jagannath Temple of Puri, aiming to replicate its scale and style. Built in the Kalinga architectural style, the temple boasts a 65-meter-high vimana (tower). The structure incorporates traditional Vedic temple components and is designed to welcome a large number of devotees. The temple features four main gates: Singhadwara (lion gate), Byaghradwara (tiger gate), Hastidwara (elephant gate), and Ashwadwara (horse gate). The temple enshrines stone idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra on the Ratnabedi. Unlike the Puri temple, where non-Hindus and foreigners face restrictions, the Digha Jagannath Temple welcomes people of all backgrounds, promoting cultural openness and communal harmony. The temple is a hub of festivities, with the Rath Yatra (Chariot Festival) being the most spectacular event. During this festival, the deities are taken out in a grand procession on three decorated chariots to the Gundicha Temple, where they stay for seven days. Other festivals celebrated here include Snana Yatra, Janmashtami, Chandan Yatra and Diwali.
