Car
If you are driving, the Ajanta Caves are located approximately 100 kilometers from Aurangabad. Start on NH60 from Aurangabad, which will take you through the scenic countryside. Follow NH60 and then take the exit towards Ajanta Caves. The road is well-marked, and you can expect to pay a toll fee of around INR 35. After reaching the parking area, it's a short walk to the entrance.
Public Bus
To reach Ajanta Caves via public transportation, take a bus from Aurangabad to Ajanta. Buses depart from the Aurangabad Central Bus Station and the journey takes about 2.5 hours. The fare is approximately INR 100. Once you arrive at the Ajanta bus stop, you can either walk to the entrance (about 2 km) or hire a local auto-rickshaw for around INR 50.
Train
If you prefer train travel, take a train to Jalna or Bhusawal station, both of which are the nearest railheads to Ajanta Caves. From either station, you will need to hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Ajanta Caves. The taxi fare from Jalna is around INR 1,500 for a round trip, while from Bhusawal it is about INR 1,200. Ensure you confirm your return transportation in advance.
