Taxi
From Srinagar Airport (SXR), hire a taxi to Gulmarg. The distance is approximately 51 km and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Taxis are readily available at the airport. Expect to pay between INR 1500 to INR 2500 for a one-way trip. During winter, the road may be icy, and you might need a 4x4 vehicle from Tangmarg, which could cost extra.
Public Transport
From Srinagar, take a shared taxi or bus to Tangmarg. Shared taxis (Sumos) are available from Batmaloo in Srinagar to Tangmarg for around INR 100 per person. Buses are also available from the same location. From Tangmarg, hire another taxi or take a local bus to Gulmarg. The bus fare from Tangmarg to Gulmarg is around INR 40. Be aware that buses may be less frequent. The Tangmarg to Gulmarg distance is approximately 13 km.
Gulmarg Gondola
Once in Gulmarg, the main attraction is the Gulmarg Gondola. It is located about a kilometer from the town center. You can walk or hire a local sledge. Phase 1 (Gulmarg to Kongdoori) costs around INR 700-900, and Phase 2 (Kongdoori to Apharwat Peak) costs around INR 950-1200. A chairlift from Kongdoori to Mary's Shoulder costs an additional INR 300. Book tickets online to avoid long queues.
