Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Gulmarg, follow the Srinagar-Gulmarg Road (NH 1D) from Srinagar. The distance is approximately 50 km and takes around 2 hours. As you drive, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kashmir valley. After passing through Tangmarg, follow the signs to Gulmarg. There is adequate parking available in Gulmarg, but be aware of possible parking fees depending on the area you choose.

• Taxi

  You can hire a taxi from Srinagar to Gulmarg. The journey will take about 2 hours covering a distance of approximately 50 km. It is advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand, which can range from INR 1500 to INR 2500 depending on the type of vehicle and season. Ensure that the taxi is registered and ideally booked through a reliable service.

• Public Bus

  For a more economical option, you can take a public bus from Srinagar to Gulmarg. Buses leave from the Batamaloo Bus Stand in Srinagar. The journey takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and stops. Tickets cost around INR 100 to INR 150. Make sure to check the bus schedule, as services may be limited during off-peak seasons.

• Shared Taxi

  Another budget-friendly option is to use a shared taxi, which operates from various points in Srinagar. These taxis leave when full and can be a quick way to reach Gulmarg. The cost per person usually ranges from INR 300 to INR 500. Ensure you confirm the destination and the number of passengers before starting your journey.

• Cable Car

  Once in Gulmarg, you can use the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable cars in the world. This is a must-do activity, providing spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The ride costs around INR 800 for a round trip to Phase 1 (Kongdoori) and approximately INR 1300 for Phase 2 (Apharwat Peak). Tickets can be purchased at the base station.
