Tighra Dam, also known as Tigra Dam, is a freshwater reservoir on the Sank River, approximately 20 km from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Constructed in 1916, the dam provides irrigation, drinking water, and supports domestic needs for Gwalior and surrounding villages.The dam stands 24 meters high at its crest and stretches 1341 meters long, holding a capacity of 4.8 million cubic meters. Although the original structure failed twice, it was rebuilt and continues to serve as a vital water source.Today, Tighra Dam is a favorite destination for families and couples seeking a peaceful retreat. Visitors can enjoy boating with options like speed boats, paddle boats, and water scooters. The area has also become a habitat for various bird species, making it a great spot for birdwatching. The dam also features a restaurant and snack shops. It's a picturesque location to unwind and capture beautiful moments.
