Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Hampi. Head towards the main road leading to Hospet (NH 67). After approximately 3 kilometers, look for signs directing you to the Tungabhadra Dam. Follow these signs for another 6 kilometers until you reach the Tungabhadra Ghats, located at the coordinates 15.3368° N, 76.4589° E. Parking is available near the ghats, but please note that a nominal parking fee may be charged.

  • Public Transportation

    For those opting for public transportation, head to the Hampi bus stand. Look for buses heading towards Hospet (which are frequent). Inform the conductor that you wish to visit the Tungabhadra Ghats. Once you reach the Tungabhadra Dam bus stop (approximately 30 minutes from Hampi), you will need to hire an auto-rickshaw to take you to the ghats, which is about 2 kilometers away. Auto-rickshaw fares may vary, but expect to pay around ₹50-₹100.

  • Walking

    If you are staying close to the Tungabhadra Dam, you can choose to walk to the ghats. From the dam, simply follow the pathway that leads down towards the river. It is a scenic walk of about 1.5 kilometers, taking approximately 20-30 minutes. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially during the hotter parts of the day.
