Discover more about Devi's Fall Pokhara.

Devi's Fall, locally known as Patale Chhango, meaning "underground waterfall," is a captivating natural attraction in Pokhara, Nepal. The waterfall gets its name from a tragic incident in 1961 when a Swiss woman, Mrs. Davis (or Devi), was swept away by a sudden flood while bathing in the stream. The water from Phewa Lake flows into the Pardi Khola stream, cascading down into a gorge and creating Devi's Fall. The waterfall is unique because the water disappears into a 500-foot-long underground tunnel, making its end invisible. This natural phenomenon distinguishes it from other waterfalls in Nepal. The site is surrounded by lush greenery, enhancing its beauty. The best time to visit Devi's Fall is during the monsoon season (June to September) when the waterfall is at its peak. The mist created by the water adds to the allure, though caution is advised due to slippery rocks. Besides the waterfall, the site includes a Pati Pauwa of Newar architecture, a park, a wishing well, and a photo booth with traditional Nepalese attire. The earnings from the tickets support the Chhorepatan Higher Secondary School, highlighting the site's social significance. Nearby attractions include Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, located just opposite Devi's Fall, and other popular destinations like the World Peace Pagoda and the International Mountain Museum.
