International Mountain Museum: A Tribute to the Peaks

Nestled in the scenic city of Pokhara, Nepal, the International Mountain Museum (IMM) is dedicated to documenting and celebrating the world's mountains and the people connected to them. Established in 2002 by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), the museum's mission is to preserve and showcase the history, culture, and ecology of mountains, with a special focus on the Himalayas. The IMM features three main exhibition halls: the Hall of Great Himalayas, the Hall of Fame, and the Hall of World Mountains. Exhibits include original gear from Himalayan ascents, displays on mountain cultures, and information on the geology, flora, and fauna of the Himalayas. Visitors can explore exhibits on famous peaks and mountaineers, learn about the lifestyle of mountain people, and even see a replica of Mt. Manaslu. The museum also highlights the impact of mountains on local communities and the accomplishments of renowned mountaineers. Beyond the exhibition halls, the IMM offers outdoor attractions such as a climbing wall and a model of Mt. Manaslu.
