From the Jaisalmer Fort, head towards the main road (Gandisar Lake Road). You can find auto-rickshaws available near the fort entrance. Tell the driver you want to go to the Jaisalmer War Museum, located in Thaiyat. The ride should take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will likely take you directly to the museum entrance.
Local Bus
If you prefer to take a local bus, head to the Jaisalmer bus stand near the city center. Look for a bus heading towards Thaiyat. The buses run every 30 minutes. After getting off at the Thaiyat stop, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to the museum. Follow the main road straight, and look for signs directing you to the Jaisalmer War Museum.
Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and would like to walk, start from the Jaisalmer Fort and make your way to the main road (Gandisar Lake Road). From there, head south and follow the road towards Thaiyat. The distance is about 6 kilometers, which will take roughly 1.5-2 hours on foot. Make sure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be sandy.
Cycle Rental
For a more active option, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Jaisalmer. After renting, head towards the main road (Gandisar Lake Road) and cycle south towards Thaiyat. The distance is about 6 kilometers, and it should take you approximately 30 minutes to reach the Jaisalmer War Museum. This option allows you to enjoy the beautiful desert scenery along the way.
