Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the Jammu Railway Station, exit the station and head southeast on the main road. Walk straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Janipur Road. Here, you will see a large roundabout. Continue straight through the roundabout and take the first left onto Palace Road. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will see the Amar Mahal Museum and Library on your right side. The museum is a prominent building with unique French architecture, so it should be easy to spot.
Auto-rickshaw
Auto-rickshaws are a convenient way to reach the Amar Mahal Museum and Library. If you are in the city center, simply find a nearby auto-rickshaw stand or hail one from the street. Tell the driver you want to go to 'Amar Mahal Museum on Palace Road.' The ride should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off directly in front of the museum.
Cycle-Rickshaw
For a more leisurely pace, you can take a cycle-rickshaw. Look for cycle-rickshaw stands near popular areas such as Raghunath Bazaar or the main market. Negotiate the fare beforehand and ask the rickshaw puller to take you to Amar Mahal Museum on Palace Road. The journey will take approximately 20-25 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the local scenery.
Local Bus
If you prefer public transport, you can take a local bus. Head to the nearest bus stop and look for buses heading towards Karan Nagar or Amar Mahal. Once aboard, inform the conductor of your destination. The bus may take longer due to stops, but it's a cost-effective option. Get off at the nearest stop to Amar Mahal, and it will be a short walk from there.
