Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
Start at Kanyakumari Bus Station. Exit the bus station and head south towards the main road (NH66). Walk towards the town center, passing by local shops and eateries. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Kanyakumari beach area. From here, you can enjoy the view of the ocean before continuing your journey. On your right, you'll find a sign pointing towards Kalvilai Beach. Follow the sign down Kalvilai Church Road. Keep walking straight for about 2 kilometers, crossing through a residential area. After about 20 minutes of walking, you will see Kalvilai Beach on your left, marked by a small entrance.
Auto Rickshaw
From anywhere in Kanyakumari, simply hail an auto rickshaw (you can find them near popular tourist spots like the Vivekananda Rock Memorial). Tell the driver you want to go to 'Kalvilai Beach' or show them the address: '4H54+XVR, Kalvilai Church Rd, Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu 629702'. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off directly at the entrance of the beach.
Bicycle Rental
For those feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Kanyakumari. Once you have your bicycle, head towards the main road (NH66) and ride south. After passing the town center and enjoying the coastal views, look for Kalvilai Church Road, where you will turn left. Continue riding straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach Kalvilai Beach. This route offers a scenic ride along the coast.
