Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Pahalgam. Drive towards the Aru Valley by taking the Pahalgam-Aru Road. The distance is approximately 12 kilometers and the journey will take around 30 minutes. The road is scenic, and you will pass through beautiful landscapes. Ensure to follow the signs for Aru Valley, which will lead you directly to your destination. There is no toll on this route.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, head to the Pahalgam bus station. From there, you can catch a local bus or shared taxi heading towards Aru Valley. The bus ride costs approximately ₹50-₹100 and takes around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm with the driver that the bus is going to Aru Valley, as some might go to other nearby destinations. Once you arrive at the Aru Valley stop, you will find yourself at the entrance to the valley.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of Aru Valley, walking is also an option. From the center of Pahalgam, you can walk along the Pahalgam-Aru Road. It is about a 3-hour walk (approximately 12 km) and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes and carry water and snacks for the journey.
