Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Sonamarg. From Sonamarg, take the road towards Thajiwas Glacier. Drive for about 15 km until you reach the parking area near the Thajiwas Glacier trailhead. Here, you'll need to park your vehicle as direct vehicle access to Kausar Nag is not available. The trek to Kausar Nag from this point is approximately 12 km and can take around 4-6 hours depending on your pace.

• Trekking

  From the Thajiwas Glacier trailhead, follow the marked trekking path leading towards Kausar Nag. The trail will take you through beautiful meadows and lush forests. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks, as there are limited facilities on the way. The trek is moderately challenging and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a shared taxi or a local bus from Srinagar to Sonamarg. The journey takes about 2-3 hours depending on traffic and costs around INR 200-300 per person. Once you arrive in Sonamarg, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the Thajiwas Glacier parking area. This will cost approximately INR 500-800 for a round trip.

• Guided Tours

  Consider joining a guided tour, which often includes transportation from Srinagar to Sonamarg, as well as a guided trek to Kausar Nag. These tours typically cost between INR 2000-4000 per person, depending on the inclusions such as meals and equipment rental.
