Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Head southeast on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway (NH44). After approximately 45 km, take the exit towards Anantnag. Continue on this road for about 30 km until you reach the town of Anantnag. From Anantnag, follow signs to Pahalgam, which is around 12 km away. Once in Pahalgam, take the road to Aru Valley, about 12 km from Pahalgam. After reaching Aru, you can either hire a local taxi or trek for about 7 km to reach Rangwad Valley. Please note that local taxi rates may vary, so it's advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Srinagar. Take a bus heading to Anantnag, which departs frequently. The journey will take around 1-2 hours. Once in Anantnag, look for shared taxis or local buses going to Pahalgam. From Pahalgam, you can take another local taxi to Aru Valley. Finally, from Aru Valley, you will need to either trek or hire a local guide to take you to Rangwad Valley. Be prepared for additional costs for the taxi from Pahalgam to Aru and for any trekking or guiding services.
Trekking
For the adventurous, after reaching Aru Valley, you can trek to Rangwad Valley. The trek is approximately 7 km and takes about 3-4 hours depending on your pace. The path offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Make sure to wear comfortable trekking shoes and carry sufficient water and snacks. Local guides can also be hired in Aru to assist you on the trek.
