Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Alleppey (Alappuzha). Drive approximately 23 kilometers towards Kuttanad. Follow the signs for Munroe Island. As you approach the island, you will need to park your car at the designated parking area near the entrance to Munroe Island. The parking fee is around ₹50. From the parking area, you can either walk or hire a local auto-rickshaw to take you closer to the Munroe Island Canal, which is a short distance away.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Alleppey, take a local bus heading towards Kottayam and ask the driver to drop you at the Munroe Island junction. The bus fare is approximately ₹20. Once you get off, you will need to walk about 2 kilometers to reach the canal. Alternatively, you can take a local auto-rickshaw from the junction to the canal for about ₹100.

• Ferry

  If you are in the vicinity of Vembanad Lake, you can take a ferry to Munroe Island. There are several ferry services that operate from Alleppey to Munroe Island. The ferry ride offers a scenic view of the backwaters and costs around ₹100 per person. Make sure to check the ferry schedule in advance, as timings may vary.

• Bicycle Rental

  For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Alleppey and cycling to Munroe Island. The distance is roughly 23 kilometers, and it will take you through beautiful landscapes. You can rent a bicycle for around ₹200 per day. Once you reach the island, you can explore the canals and local villages at your leisure.
