Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards the town of Nenmeni in Kerala. From major cities like Kochi or Kozhikode, follow the NH 66 highway towards Kozhikode. Once you reach the town of Kalpetta, take the road towards Edakkal Caves. Drive approximately 12 km from Kalpetta; you'll see signposts directing you to the caves. The final stretch includes a narrow road leading up to the parking area. Parking is available at the base of the caves for a nominal fee (around ₹50). From the parking area, it's a short trek of about 1.5 km uphill to reach the caves.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus to Kalpetta from your current location (Kochi or Kozhikode have regular bus services). Once you arrive in Kalpetta, you can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to take you to Edakkal Caves, which is about 12 km away. Expect to pay around ₹300-₹400 for the taxi ride. Alternatively, you can take a local bus from Kalpetta to Nenmeni and then walk for approximately 1.5 km to reach the caves. Buses run frequently, but ensure to check the local schedules.

• Trekking

  Once you arrive at the parking area near Edakkal Caves, prepare for a short trek. The trek is about 1.5 km uphill and can take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. The path is well-marked, but wear comfortable shoes as it can be uneven and steep in some places. Make sure to carry water and snacks, as facilities are limited near the caves.
