If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major city, Kottayam. From Kottayam, take the MC Road (State Highway 1) towards Kumarakom. Continue on this road for approximately 14 kilometers until you reach the junction for Kavalam. Turn left onto the road leading to Kavalam. Continue straight until you reach the address FFC6+9CM, Kavalam, Kunnumma, Kerala 689590. The drive will take around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Ensure you have a GPS or a navigation app for the most accurate directions.
Bus
For those opting for public transportation, take a bus from Kottayam to Kavalam. Buses leave frequently from the Kottayam Bus Station, and the fare is typically around ₹30-₹50 (approx. $0.40-$0.70). The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach the Kavalam bus stop, you can hire a local auto-rickshaw or walk for about 1.5 kilometers to reach Murikkens Tharavadu at FFC6+9CM. Auto-rickshaw fares for this distance will be around ₹50-₹100 (approx. $0.70-$1.40).
Train
If you’re coming from further away, you may take a train to Kottayam Railway Station. Upon arrival, you can take a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to the Kottayam Bus Station. From there, follow the bus directions to Kavalam as mentioned above. The train fare and schedule will vary based on your starting location.
