My main goal in coming to Ladakh was to visit as many monasteries as possible within 10 days. I found Exotic Asia Travel online and discovered that they offer a monastery tour. Tashi was kind enough to customize the itinerary to better suit my preferences, as I also wanted to witness the Diskit Monastery Festival. I chose the tour without a guide because, for me, this journey was more spiritual than cultural. However, I was provided with a very comfortable car, a professional driver, excellent hotels, and, most importantly, all the time I needed for my spiritual practices. I was never rushed, and nobody tried to change my route or influence my plans. Everything went exactly according to the confirmed itinerary, with a few wonderful extras, such as a camel ride in Nubra Valley. I had an incredible 15-day experience with Ladakh Backpackers, organized by Fida and Padma, and I genuinely can’t recommend them enough. One thing that really stood out was that Fida only recommends places that he has personally visited himself. That gave me a lot of confidence that every stop on the itinerary was based on real experience rather than just what looks good on a map or social media. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, balancing Ladakh’s iconic attractions with hidden gems that most tourists never get to see. It made the trip feel authentic and unlike a typical tourist itinerary. A huge shoutout to our guide and driver, Gulam Bhaiya. He was absolutely amazing throughout the entire trip. He constantly suggested incredible viewpoints and hidden spots, never once said no to stopping for photos or taking short detours, and always made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and doing well. His local knowledge was invaluable, and he shared stories and perspectives that helped us experience Ladakh the way locals do. On top of that, Gulam Bhaiya is an exceptionally skilled driver. The roads in Ladakh can be challenging, but you barely felt a thing sitting in the back seat. We always felt safe and in good hands, which made the journey just as enjoyable as the destinations. What I appreciated most about Ladakh Backpackers is that they are true experts in the region and only give genuine travel recommendations. It never felt like we were just checking off tourist spots—we were experiencing Ladakh through the eyes of people who genuinely know and love the place. I would highly, highly recommend Ladakh Backpackers to anyone planning a trip to Ladakh.
