Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Jabalpur, take NH30 towards Shahdol. After approximately 200 km, you will reach Shahdol. From Shahdol, take the road towards Amarkantak, which is about 55 km away. Follow the signs to Amarkantak, and you will eventually arrive at Sonmuda Amarkantak. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there are limited fuel stations along these routes.

• Public Transportation

  From Jabalpur, board a bus to Shahdol, which operates frequently. The bus journey will take around 4-5 hours. Once you reach Shahdol, you can find local transport options such as shared taxis or auto-rickshaws that will take you to Amarkantak. The fare for the shared taxi is usually around ₹200-₹300 per person. The distance from Shahdol to Amarkantak is about 55 km.

• Taxi

  If you prefer convenience, you can hire a taxi from Jabalpur directly to Sonmuda Amarkantak. This will cost you around ₹3500-₹4500 depending on the taxi service. The journey will take approximately 4-5 hours. Make sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your trip.

  Once you arrive in Amarkantak, you can use local rickshaws or taxis to reach Sonmuda, which is approximately 8 km from the town center. The fare for these local rides usually ranges from ₹100-₹200.
