If you're driving, start from the center of Mahabalipuram. Head southeast on East Raja Street towards the beach. Continue straight as the road curves, and then turn left onto the ECR (East Coast Road). Drive for about 1 kilometer until you see signs for the Mamallapuram Lighthouse on your right. Turn right into the parking area for the lighthouse. There is usually no parking fee, but confirm upon arrival.

For a more local experience, you can hire an auto rickshaw from anywhere in Mahabalipuram. Just inform the driver that you want to go to Mamallapuram Lighthouse. The ride should cost around ₹50-₹100 depending on your starting point. The driver will take you directly to the lighthouse entrance, where you can also find a parking area.

If you're using public transportation, look for a local bus service that operates on routes towards the ECR. You can catch a bus from the main bus stand in Mahabalipuram. Once on board, ask the conductor to drop you off near the Mamallapuram Lighthouse. The bus fare is typically around ₹10-₹20. After getting off the bus, it’s a short walk of about 500 meters to the lighthouse entrance.

If you are staying nearby, walking to the lighthouse can be quite pleasant. From the central area of Mahabalipuram, head towards the beach, then take the path leading to the lighthouse. It’s approximately a 1.5 kilometers walk from the center, so wear comfortable shoes. Follow the coastal road, and you will eventually reach the lighthouse area.
