Car
If you are driving, Ajanta Caves is located about 100 km from the city of Aurangabad. Start your journey on National Highway 60 (NH60) towards Jalna. After approximately 30 km, take the exit towards Ajantha Road. Continue on this road for another 50 km until you reach the entrance of the Ajanta Caves. There is parking available near the caves, but be aware that an entrance fee is required for entry.
Public Transport - Bus
From Aurangabad, you can take a state-run bus from the Aurangabad bus station to Ajanta. Buses are frequent and the journey takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Look for buses that specifically mention 'Ajanta Caves' as their destination. Upon arrival at the Ajanta bus stop, you will need to walk or take a rickshaw to the entrance of the caves, which is about 5 km away. Expect to pay a small fee for the bus ticket (approximately INR 100-150) and possibly another fee for the rickshaw.
Train
Take a train from major cities in Maharashtra (like Mumbai or Pune) to Jalna or Aurangabad. From Aurangabad, follow the bus instructions provided above. The nearest railway station is at Jalna, which is about 60 km from Ajanta. If you choose to go via Jalna, you will need to hire a taxi or find local transport to get to Ajanta Caves, which may incur additional costs (around INR 1,500-2,000 for a taxi).
