If you're traveling by car, begin your journey from Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Head south on NH37 towards Jiribam. The distance is approximately 200 kilometers and will take about 4-5 hours. Once you reach Jiribam, continue on NH37 until you see signs for Barak waterfall. The last stretch will be on a smaller, unpaved road. Make sure to keep your GPS handy as the roads can be tricky. There’s no toll on this route.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Imphal to Jiribam. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes about 5-6 hours, costing around ₹150-₹200. Once in Jiribam, you can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw to take you to Barak waterfall. This will cost approximately ₹300-₹500 depending on negotiation. Ensure to confirm with the driver that they know the route to the waterfall.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous and are already near the waterfall area, you can consider hiking. From the closest road access point (V9PV+84H), there is a hiking trail that leads to Barak waterfall. The trail is about 3 kilometers long and will take roughly an hour to walk. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water as the path can be steep and rugged.
