Car
If you are driving from Shillong, head towards the East Khasi Hills region. Use the NH6 highway and continue towards Khliehriat. After approximately 56 km, take a right turn towards the village of Mawsynram. From there, follow the local roads for another 15 km until you reach the Kshaid Tymmen Falls. Ensure that you have a GPS or a map app active to guide you through the winding roads, as they can be quite narrow and steep.
Public Transportation
To reach Kshaid Tymmen Falls using public transport, first take a shared taxi or local bus from Shillong to Khliehriat, which is around 56 km away. The fare for a shared taxi is approximately ₹100-₹150 per person. From Khliehriat, you can hire a local taxi to reach Mawsynram village, which will cost around ₹300-₹400. Once in Mawsynram, inquire about local guides or taxis that can take you to Kshaid Tymmen Falls, which is about 15 km away. Be prepared for some negotiation on taxi fares.
Walking/Trekking
If you are an adventurous traveler, after reaching Mawsynram, you can opt for a trek to Kshaid Tymmen Falls. The trek is approximately 5 km and takes you through beautiful lush landscapes. Ensure you wear comfortable trekking shoes and carry enough water, as the trek can be challenging in some parts. It is advisable to hire a local guide who is familiar with the trails, which should cost around ₹500-₹700 for the day.
