Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Take the NH6 highway towards Jowai. After approximately 60 kilometers, look for signs directing you to Mawkynrong. You will need to turn onto a local road towards Mawkynrong village. Follow the winding roads for about 10 kilometers. Once you reach the village, there will be local signage directing you to Mawkynrong Synteiñ. Ensure you have a GPS or map application as rural roads can be less marked.
Public Transportation
From Shillong, you can take a shared taxi (also known as 'sumo') to Jowai. The journey usually takes about 2 hours and costs approximately INR 100-150. Once you reach Jowai, hire a local taxi or an auto-rickshaw to take you to Mawkynrong, which is about 15 kilometers away. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around INR 300-400. The drivers are usually familiar with the area and can take you directly to Mawkynrong Synteiñ.
Combination (Car and Walk)
If you have a car but prefer to experience the local environment, drive to Mawkynrong village and park at the designated parking area. From there, it's a short walk (about 1 kilometer) to Mawkynrong Synteiñ. The path is well-trodden and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be uneven.
