Train
To reach Elephanta Island from central Mumbai, start by taking a local train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) to the nearest station, which is 'Vashi' or 'Navi Mumbai'. Once you arrive at Vashi or Navi Mumbai station, exit the station and head towards the nearest bus stop or auto-rickshaw stand. From there, take an auto-rickshaw to the Gateway of India, which is the ferry terminal for Elephanta Island.

Once you arrive at the Gateway of India, look for the ticket counter for the ferries heading to Elephanta Island. The ferry ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Be sure to check the schedule, as the last ferry back from Elephanta Island usually departs in the late afternoon. Enjoy the scenic views of the Mumbai skyline during your ferry ride.
Walking
After arriving at Elephanta Island, you will need to walk from the ferry dock to the entrance of the island. Follow the signs leading to the caves and temples, which are about a 15-minute walk from the dock. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views along the way.
