Car
If you are driving from Shillong, head towards the town of Jowai via the NH6 highway. The journey is approximately 150 km and takes around 4 hours. Once you reach Jowai, take the road towards Dawki and follow the signs for the Umngot River Viewpoint. The viewpoint is located about 30 km from Dawki. Be sure to keep your GPS handy and check for local road conditions as they can vary.
Public Transportation
To reach Umngot River Viewpoint using public transport, first take a bus or shared taxi from Shillong to Jowai. The fare is usually around ₹100-₹150 and the journey takes about 3 hours. Once in Jowai, you can hire a shared taxi or a local cab to take you to the Dawki area, which will cost around ₹500-₹700. From Dawki, you may need to hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw for the final 30 km ride to the viewpoint.
