Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Guwahati, take National Highway 27 towards Tezpur. The total distance is approximately 300 km and will take around 7-8 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you reach Tezpur, continue on NH 15 towards Bomdila. After Bomdila, follow the signs for Sela Lake. The last stretch to Sela Lake is about 35 km, and you'll be traveling through mountainous terrain, so drive carefully. Sela Lake is located at the coordinates 27.5098° N, 92.1009° E.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Guwahati, you can take a bus to Tezpur. Several private and government buses operate on this route, and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once in Tezpur, you can catch another bus to Bomdila. The bus ride from Tezpur to Bomdila takes around 5 hours. After reaching Bomdila, you can hire a taxi to Sela Lake, which is approximately 35 km away. Ensure the taxi driver knows your destination as it is a popular tourist spot.

• Shared Taxi

  Another option from Tezpur is to take a shared taxi to Bomdila. Shared taxis are available at the Tezpur taxi stand and can be a quicker option than buses. After arriving in Bomdila, hire a local taxi to Sela Lake. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand. The entire journey from Tezpur to Sela Lake via shared taxi may take about 4-5 hours depending on the waiting time and road conditions.

• Private Taxi Service

  If you prefer comfort and convenience, consider hiring a private taxi for the entire trip starting from Guwahati. This option allows for flexible stops along the way and can significantly reduce travel time. You can book a taxi online or through local travel agencies. Expect to pay around INR 5000-7000 for a round trip from Guwahati to Sela Lake. Remember to confirm the taxi’s return to ensure you have a ride back.
